Meet Me in Muskegon
For months leading up to June 6th, Jordan liked to tell all core members, assistants, friends, and guests of Joyful House that "we are going to Lake Michigan in June" whenever she was given the opportunity. She had already even told some friends that Lake Michigan was her favorite trip--months before the Joyful ladies thought about hitting the road. When the morning of June 6th finally did arrive, no one was more ready to load up the vans and drive than J! Soon, everyone shared Jordan's joy and the Joyful ladies (somehow) managed to leave for Muskegon 20 minutes ahead of schedule!
After a nice seven-hour trek (eight for others and ten for Jordan and her van), Joyful House got settled into our home away from home for the week. Some of us shared rooms, a lucky few had their own, and one assistant even got to sleep in a laundry room for the week! Our Airbnb served as a comfy home where we watched lots of movies, ate some beautiful charcuterie, and shared lots of laughs. When we weren't at home, we were able to venture into the world and do things we hadn't done in a long time like going out for some meals and visiting local shops.
Each of the ladies enjoyed a different part of the trip most. Jordan's favorite part was swimming in Lake Michigan, and she was the only core member to brave the cold water! Amy liked watching lots of movies and relaxing back at the Airbnb. Meanwhile, Kira and Mary Ellen loved the special food we ate--Kira's highlight was going to an Italian restaurant and Mary Ellen's was getting ice cream at the Frosty Cove! Assistants joined in the fun, too, joining the ladies for go-karting, getting a pedicure with Mary Ellen, and for many trips out for ice cream. All in all, our trip to Muskegon was full of good times for everybody!!
